Vice President, Marketing & Media, New York City Tourism + Conventions

New York City Tourism + Conventions is the official destination marketing organization and convention and visitors bureau for the five boroughs of New York City. Their mission is to invite the world and energize the City, building equitable, sustainable economic prosperity and community through tourism for the mutual benefit of residents, businesses, and visitors.

NYCtourism.com is the official website of New York City, reaching visitors in their trip-planning stages and showcasing everything the City has to offer. The site is also home to key marketing programs including NYC Restaurant Week®, NYC Broadway WeekSM, and more.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this executive will serve as a trusted advisor and senior leader, translating organizational priorities into high-impact marketing initiatives while overseeing departmental operations, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing, media, and brand strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Marketing Officer to establish strategic priorities and lead execution of key initiatives.
  • Oversee marketing and media budgets, forecasting, agency investments, resource allocation, and financial management.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Drive collaboration across marketing, creative, digital, communications, partnerships, research and analytics, and external agencies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners, media organizations, and key stakeholders.
  • Provide executive leadership on campaign performance, emerging trends, operational improvements, and growth opportunities.
  • Prepare executive presentations, strategic updates, and reports for senior leadership.
  • Establish processes that improve departmental efficiency, accountability, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Monitor marketing performance and optimize campaigns to maximize audience engagement and return on investment.
  • Represent the marketing organization in executive meetings and with external partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, media, brand strategy, or consumer marketing.
  • Experience partnering closely with C-suite executives and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading integrated marketing and media strategies for a complex organization.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Executive presence with experience presenting to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, agencies, and large-scale marketing initiatives.
  • Agency experience is a plus.
